Donald Roy Searcy, lovingly known as “Butch,” age 68, of Wheatland, Missouri, died December 15, 2013. He died at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri.
Don was born in Waterloo, Iowa, in 1945. His parents were the late Roy and Mary Searcy of Vanzant, Missouri.
Don was a 1963 graduate of Cabool High School in Cabool, Missouri. Don served in the Navy from 1963 to 1966. He married Roberta Crowe in 1965, and they made their home in Vanzant before later moving to Oklahoma and then California.
Don supported his family through the years by working as a diesel mechanic. Don was an avid fisherman, wood craftsman, and loved to play the banjo.
Don is survived by four children, Shelley Brown of Lebanon, Missouri, Teresa Hayes of Beaumont, California, Cary Searcy of Tehachapi, California, and Leisa McDaniel of Lancaster, California; and eleven grandchildren.
Services were held at Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church in Vanzant on December 18, 2013 with Greg Searcy of Montgomery, Texas, officiating. Pallbearers were Cary Searcy, Jaron Searcy, Bobby Brown, Jeff Searcy, Lawrence Wood, and Shane Wood. Interment was in Mt. Ararat Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
