Donnie Wayne Eaton

Donnie Wayne Eaton passed away January 9, 2011 at the VA Hospital Hospice Unit in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born September 23, 1945 in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to Kelbert and Mildred (Johnson) Eaton.

The family moved to Cabool, Missouri, from Mount Vernon, Illinois, when he was ten years old. Donnie attended grade school at Ozark School south of Cabool. He graduated from Cabool High School.

On July 20, 1967 he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on March 10, 1976. He attended CTI and received a degree in automotive mechanics.

On November 16, 1985 he was united in marriage to Marjorie James in Elk Creek, Missouri. Later they moved to Wichita, Kansas. He worked at Koch Industries and also for Rusty Eck Ford.

In 1989 he joined the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1997.

He was a charter member of the First Logistical Command, DAV, and the Church of Christ of Lofontaine, Kansas.

Donnie was preceded in death by his father and mother; three brothers, John, Arnold and Maxie; and one sister, Sharon.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of the home; two daughters, Loretta May of Elk Creek, Missouri, and Cindy Cottrell of Lafontaine, Kansas; one son, Joshua Eaton of Lafontaine, Kansas; three sisters, Mildred Doty and husband Jim of Cabool, Missouri, Rosie Hanson and husband Robby of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and June Barnes and husband Lonnie of Manes, Missouri; and one brother, Eugene Eaton and wife Carol of Springfield, Missouri.

Donnie was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. If he knew you, he never forgot you. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. January 13, 2011 at Lafontaine Christian Church with Rev. Kenny Richards officiating. Burial was in Ross Cemetery in Neodisha, Kansas, under the direction of Potts Chapel of Independence, Kansas.
