Fred Ray Brown, 90, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born on August 22, 1919 in Douglas County, Missouri, the son of the late Elbert W. and Lucille (Baney) Brown.
Fred joined the U.S. Army at a young age during World War II and received his honorable discharge in 1945.
He was united in marriage to Mattie Inez Johnson, and to this union two children, Sheryl Sue and Freddie Lynn, were born. They made their home in Douglas County on a farm they purchased in 1950. He retired from the Brown Shoe factory in the mid 1980’s and continued to farm as a hobby until his health would no longer permit.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mattie; his daughter, Sheryl; his son, Freddie; and nine brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his grandson, Brent White and wife Bobbie; a granddaughter, Sheila Jenkins and husband Kevin; seven great grandchildren, Brennen, Bryant and Benjamin White, Adam, Curtis and Caleb Jenkins and wives, and Amber Shannon and husband; three great-great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Allie Shannon and Kaiden Jenkins; two sisters, Lois Davis of Idaho and Wanda Pringle of Willow Springs, Missouri; one brother, Bill Brown of Willow Springs; and a host of other relatives and friends that will greatly miss him.
