Georgie Crisp, Jr.

Georgie “Red” Crisp, Jr., son of the late George C. and Nora Alma (Zirschky) Crisp, was born on March 9, 1936 in Manes, Missouri. Georgie was one of 13 children. He passed away on February 21, 2014 at his home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, surrounded by his family. He was 77 years, 11 months, and 21 days of age.

Georgie grew up in the Manes community. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959. He married Carol Sue Hurley on January 29, 1960. Four children were born to this union: Mark, Matt, Marty, and Loretta.

Georgie was employed at Wren’s U-Save station for 18 years and mowed yards for several years. Georgie greatly enjoyed working in his garden and became an excellent gardener. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting antique clocks.

Georgie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, Georgie was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Buddy Crisp.

He is survived by his loving wife of their home, Carol; three sons, Mark Crisp, Matt Crisp and wife Barbara, and Marty Crisp, all of Mountain Grove; one daughter, Loretta Parks and husband Paul of Springfield, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Heather Clinton and husband Jarrod, Amber, Martin, Lee, and Kristian Crisp, Lisa Williams and husband Joseph, Kim and Emily Crisp, and Mavis and Eli Parks; seven great-grandchildren, Kylie and Dylan Clinton, Kaydance and Ivy Crisp, and Alina, McKenna and Tucker Williams; four brothers, Gene Crisp of Mountain Grove, Paul Crisp and wife Norma of Manes, Eldon Crisp and wife Deanna of Manes, and Dean and wife Marsha of Hartville, Missouri; six sisters, Dottie James of Mountain Grove, Audra Jackson and husband Bill of Mountain Grove, Alice Strong of Cabool, Missouri, Maxine French and husband Bob of Mountain Grove, Susie Luton of Cabool, and Judy Turner of Manes; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Frank McCune officiating. Song selections were “In The Garden,” “Precious Memories,” and “I’ll Fly Away.” A poem written by a granddaughter was read. Pallbearers were Kristian Crisp, Jarrod Clinton, Dennis Crisp, Jimmy Crisp, Randy Delcour, Donnie Crisp, and Stacey French. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Crisp, Paul Crisp, Eldon Crisp, Dean Crisp, Bill Jackson, and Bob French. Burial was in Manes Cemetery. Full military honors were provided at the cemetery by Whiteman Air Force Base and American Legion Post 30.

Arrangements were under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove.

The family requests that contributions be given to Manes Cemetery Fund c/o the funeral home.
