James Clinton Underwood, 76, of Festus, Missouri, formerly of Cabool, Missouri, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at his residence.
He was born on July 30, 1937 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to the late James L. and Nora (Blevins) Underwood.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sharon (Potter) Underwood of Festus; sons Dennis Potter, Clinton J. Underwood, and Jessie L. (Liz) Underwood, all of Festus; daughters Deloris (Terry) Creed of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Brenda (Rob) Larkin of Overland Park, Kansas, Patricia (Randy) Garrison of Carthage, Missouri, and Catheryn Henson of Festus; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Shelton of Springfield, Missouri; brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jean Archer, and a brother-in-law, Art Shelton.
He was a retired self-employed union carpenter. He served his country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Amvets Post #42 of Herculaneum. He enjoyed working and gardening.
Services were held Monday, June 9, 2014, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, Festus, with Reverend Gene Moses officiating. Interment was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
