James Louis Hatcher was born September 12, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri, and passed from this life to the next June 18, 2014 at his home in West Plains, Missouri. He was the son of Ulysses and Mary Louise Hatcher. He was the third of five children.
He married his loving wife, Linda (Duncan) Hatcher, January 6, 1986.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, and by nine children – from a previous marriage, Jamie Hatcher and fiancé Jason Lewis and Jimmy Hatcher and wife Jennifer (Burke); with his wife Linda, Billy Hatcher, Angie Howell and husband Daniel, twins Jennifer and Jacob Hatcher, and Michelle Hatcher; and two stepchildren, Jason Branson of Cabool, Missouri, and Melissa Hanson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Haley Gragg, Sam Giller, Guage, Amber, and Addy Hanson, John Maylor, Sean and Connor Chamberlain, and Anakin Howell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses and Mary Hatcher; a brother, Dale; a sister, Dorothy; and two grandchildren, Dillion Hanson and Donovan Hatcher.
Jim liked to hunt and fish, and he never missed a St. Louis Cardinals game on TV or a clearance sale at Wal-Mart. He loved spending time with his family and with his nephews Joshua and Gerald Hatcher and his brothers Jerry and Terry Hatcher. He served proudly in the National Guard. He worked as a concessionaire at Busch Stadium where he got to watch his beloved Cardinals in action.
Jim will be missed by all who came into contact with him. He was a man of few words but everyone listened to what he had to say. “Life is too short, so why rush?” was one of his favorite sayings.
The family would like to invite any and all who knew Jim to come to his memorial service held at Disciples Fellowship Church, Licking, Missouri, Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 3:00 p.m.
