Larry Lee Griffin

Larry Lee Griffin, 61, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at his home in Miramar Beach, Florida.

Larry was born on November 23, 1950 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, to Arthur and Freda (Hicks) Griffin.

He grew up in Mtn. Grove and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1968. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was in the reserves during the Vietnam War.

Larry worked as a lab technician for Mid-America Creamery in Cabool, Missouri, and retired after thirty years. Upon retirement, he worked for Reliable Toyota Dealership in Springfield, Missouri, and moved to Miramar Beach, Florida, in December of 2011.

He was a member of East Sunshine Church of Christ in Springfield, Missouri.

Larry enjoyed golfing, playing pool, traveling, the beach, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his parents, Arthur and Freda Griffin of Mtn. Grove; his sons, Preston Griffin and wife Shannon of Canton, Georgia, and Nathan Griffin and wife Melissa of Miramar Beach, Florida; his sister, Pam Canton and husband Dwayne of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his sister, Debbie Kuster and husband Gary of Mtn. Grove; his brother, Bill Griffin of Mtn. Grove; his sister, Gina Gunnels and husband Jim of Mtn. Grove; four very special grandchildren, Scarlett, Gavin, Brookelyn, and Summer; many nieces; nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 20, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Pastor Deron Smith officiating. Song selections were “My God and I,” “I’ll Fly Away,” “Like the Life of a Flower,” and “I Will Rise.” Terry LeBaron, along with the congregation, provided the music. Pallbearers were Mitch Friend, Brandon Friend, Doug Canton, Jim “Junior” Proe, Steve Griffin and Gary Griffin. Full military honors were provided at the cemetery by the Lim Burial Detail Team and American Legion Post 30. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove.
