Les Tucker, 95, of Republic, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born on November 30, 1917 in Bunker, Missouri, the son of the late Verde and Cora (Wells) Tucker.
Les retired from the City of Cabool where he was the police chief for many years. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Am Vets Post 172.
Les was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Lucille Tucker; two brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by five daughters, Pat Rodgers and husband Jack, Beverly Tointigh, Pam Tucker, Wendy Billington and husband John Ray, and Leslie Banning and husband Oscar; 11 grandchildren, Lisa Campbell, Stacy Kellett, Joseph Tointigh, Lindi Walters, Amy Handley, Joshua Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Zebadiah Long, Chelsy Fetters, Shane James and Shawn James; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the funeral chapel with Rev. Terry Brown officiating. Pallbearers were Chelsy Fetters, Amy Handley, Stacy Kellett, Lisa Campbell, Pam Tucker, Wendy Billington, Pat Rodgers and Leslie Banning. Honorary pallbearers were Joshua Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Joe Tointigh, John Ray Billington, Jack Rodgers and Mike Miller. Interment with full military honors was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, Missouri.
