Lloyd Calvin Grogan, 88, of Grandview, Missouri, passed away December 19, 2011. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011, with full military honors at Green Lawn Cemetery, and a celebration of life memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Point Baptist Church in Kansas City with pastors Bob Michael and Kirtes Calvery officiating.
Lloyd was born in Grogan, Texas County, Missouri, on August 28, 1923 to Roy Ray and Gladys (Miller) Grogan, the eldest of five children. He graduated from Cabool High School in Cabool, Missouri, in 1941.
He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps.
He received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Missouri at Columbia, and a master’s degree in engineering from Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio. He moved to the Kansas City area in 1951, retiring from Allied Signal (Honeywell) as a senior industrial engineer in the early 1990s.
He was a Southern Baptist deacon of 50 years, an active member of his church, a devoted member of the Missouri Camper on Mission organization for the past 35-plus years, and the camp chaplain of his Gideons International camp.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dayta; and a sister, Nadine (Grogan) Thompson.
He leaves his children, Dr. Dennis Grogan and wife Colleen of Cincinnati, Ohio, Denise Grogan of Grandview, and Rebecca Grogan of Gladstone, Missouri; three sisters, Lorene Hughes of Kansas City, Missouri, Norma Fern McGuire and husband Roy of Olathe, Kansas, and Eva Fay Booker and husband James of Elk Creek, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Sarah Grogan and Jeffrey Grogan of Cincinnati.
Memorial contributions may be made to Missouri Baptist Children’s Home or The Baptist Home.
