Oscar Lee Reed, 82, of Cabool, Missouri, departed this life at 12:48 p.m. on May 1, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, with family at his side.
He was born on December 20, 1930 in Cabool, the son of John Oscar and Verna (Crossland) Reed.
He was married four times and divorced at the time of his passing.
Oscar joined the U.S. Army in July 1951; he served one year overseas in Korea. He received many medals and pins for his service. He was with the 92nd Armed Infantry of Co. B from Fort Leonard Wood until receiving his honorable discharge in September 1955.
After his discharge from the service, he enjoyed traveling and picking up work as he traveled. He resided in Cabool on his country farm of three acres. He enjoyed piddling around his place with his dog, Jack. He also enjoyed showing his antique cars at car shows with his brother, Dooter.
Oscar is survived by his younger brother, Omar (Dooter) Reed and wife Sharon of Udall, Missouri, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Graveside services were at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Cabool Cemetery with Rev. Bob White officiating. Pallbearers were Steve Strong, Dallas Strong, Barry Glover, Floyd Ebert, Kevin Hensley and Donnie Wells. Interment with full military honors was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
