Paul Amasa Harvey, son of Harry L. and Ruth (Barnhart) Harvey, was born December 29, 1928 in Mattoon, Illinois, and went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at the age of 81 years, four months and 29 days. At the time of his passing he was at his home near Cabool, Missouri, and surrounded by his family.
On December 18, 1953 he was united in marriage to Frances Ann (McGinness) Harvey, and to this union were born three boys: David Paul, Mark Allen and Daniel Lee.
Paul was a veteran of the Korean war and a longtime member of American Legion Post 30 in Mountain Grove, Missouri.
During his working years, Paul was a laborer, farmer and a handyman. He was well known for his honesty, hard work and integrity and his love for God.
He was a long-standing and active member of Pleasant Home Free Will Baptist Church in Vanzant, Missouri.
Second only to his love for God and his family, Paul loved to be out in the woods tromping through the brush, across creeks and up and down the hills and hollers of the Ozarks that he loved so dearly. At a very early age his mother nicknamed him “Brush Angel” and he spent his life proudly living up to that name.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and one grandson, Shaun Harvey.
He is survived by his wife, Frances of the home; three sons, David and Terri Harvey of Vanzant, Mark and Carla Harvey of Wichita, Kansas, and Daniel and Kathy Harvey of Cabool; eight grandchildren, Paulette, Kristopher, Michael, Ryan, Nathan, Jason, Angela and Brandi; four great-grandchildren, Shane, Cheyenne, Cassidy and Cody; as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the funeral home chapel with Danny Delcour officiating. Interment was in Pine Flat Cemetery south of Cabool under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
