Walter Wayne McClenahan, 73, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009, at his home in Grandview, Missouri, under the care of his loving wife, Donnie.
He was born February 23, 1937 and was one of 12 children of Eli R. and Margaret M. (Baker) McClenahan.
He graduated from Cabool High School, Cabool, Missouri, in 1955 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served three years of active duty.
Walter married Donnie E. Greuter on April 20, 1962. They moved and lived in the Greater Kansas City area for 44 years. He remained a loving husband for 47 years and was a devoted father.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Hall, Eli Jr., Perry and James, and two sisters, Eunice Stambaugh and Alice Franklin.
Walter is survived by his wife, Donnie; three children, Hall McClenahan, Jeffery McClenahan, and Melinda Lopez; nine grandchildren, Mathew McClenahan, Bethany McClenahan, Burgundy Konnen, Nichol McClenahan, Ashley McClenahan, Makayla McClenahan, Joe Lopez, Devin McClenahan and Reese McClenahan; five sisters, Velma “Donnie” Shaw, Elvira “Shorty” Brill, Eva “Peggy” Clingerman, June Walburn and Joyce Tinsley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Walter loved his family and friends, but most important his Lord Jesus Christ and now rests in peace. If there is one thing Walter would like to pass on to anyone it is that there is nothing in the world more important than God, family and friends.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on February 6, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at Central Seventh Day Adventist Church, 150 Highway and Peterson Road, Kansas City, on the north side. All family and friends are invited.
