Alvin V. Dean, 81, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, passed away on January 26, 2009 at Autumn Oaks Caring Center after a short illness.
He was born on February 4, 1927 at Rayborn, Missouri, the son of James and Ethyl (Lathrom) Dean. He was one of six children born to their union.
He was raised in the Rayborn community. He worked at different jobs but was primarily an over-the-road truck driver.
Alvin served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received his honorable discharge.
He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Tipton and to this union one son, Danny Dean, was born.
He was later married to Faye Sigman until her passing in January of 2007.
Alvin was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ralph Dean of Houston, Missouri; and a sister, Essie Rice of Lawrence, Kansas.
He is survived by his son, Danny Dean of Houston; two brothers, Marshall Dean of Mtn. Grove and Russell Dean of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Parthina Bickford of Lawrence, Kansas; two aunts, Sylvia Richards and Geneva Shannon, both of Mtn. Grove; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Alvin loved the outdoors, floating, fishing and hunting but his favorite thing was to drive the old country roads in what he called his “wheels.”
He rededicated his life to God and was baptized a few years ago. He had a big heart and was always smiling. He was very grateful for the smallest thing the staff at the nursing home did for him, always telling them thank you with a smile. He will be missed by all his family and friends.
