Floyd Dean Dishman was born April 8, 1934 in Strafford, Missouri, with his twin brother, Lloyd, who has been a brother and best friend for all their lives.
After a short illness, he was given peace January 7, 2009, surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Doll Dishman, and two brothers, Ross Dishman, Jr. and Harvey Dishman.
Floyd married Janice Bay on April 24, 1955.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959. After his discharge, the young couple moved to California where Floyd worked in the automobile parts business and eventually purchased his own business. During these years, their only child, Don, was born. The family moved back to Missouri in 1973.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice of Springfield, Missouri; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Dena Dishman of Springfield; two grandsons, Scott and Brad Dishman of Springfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Jean Dishman of Springfield and Ronald and Maxine Bay of Carthage, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Vernon Bay of Cabool, Missouri; and a cousin, Margaret Ann Hickman of Springfield. He was a much loved uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn East in Springfield. Burial was in Dishman Cemetery, Strafford.
