George Wesley Strain, 84, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on March 19, 2009.
He was born January 31, 1925 to George and Bertha Strain of Cabool, Missouri.
George graduated from Cabool High School, where he enjoyed being a member of the basketball team and served as team co-captain three years.
George was a World War II veteran. After discharge, he worked in Cabool before moving to Kansas City to become a railway mail clerk. He retired after working 30 years as a postal worker.
George was a member of the Ararat Shrine “Legion of Honor” and was a member of First Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nola, of the home; sons George Strain, Jr. of Shawnee, Kansas, and John Strain and wife Barbara of Covington, Louisiana; daughter Rebecca Strain of Willow Springs, Missouri; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services and burial were March 28, 2009 in Kansas City.
