Mr. Leon McCormick, 67, of Willow Springs, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri. He was born on April 23, 1942 in Willow Springs, the son of George A. and Susie G. (Spencer) McCormick.
Leon was united in marriage to Lois Pauline Walker on January 1, 1964, and to this union three children were born. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Leon loved to do anything with the outdoors, but he especially enjoyed to hunt, fish and raise chickens. He enjoyed being with his family and his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Leon McCormick; and two brothers, Charlie and Jack.
Leon is survived by his loving wife, Lois Pauline McCormick; two daughters, Kimberland McCormick and Susie Ann Johnson; three grandsons, Ruben, Justin and Chase McCormick; three sisters, Janet King and Della Hollis, both of Willow Springs, and Sue Brixey of Oregon; two brothers, Bill Jackson of Willow Springs and Delbert McCormick of Springfield, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Bobby McCormick; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Services were at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Westside Family Life Center in Willow Springs with Pastor David Lovan officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Williamson, Jacky Eaton, Eric Hann, Frankie Clinton, Lawrence Parker, Dallas “2 Fingers” McColgin, Flara Taylor and Tim Jackson. Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Jackson, Bill Jackson, Billy Hayes and Billy King. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery near Willow Springs under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, Missouri.
