William Lee Goodner, 76, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008, at his home.
He was born on June 21, 1932 in Lamar, Colorado, the son of the late Hubert and Sylvia (Bridge) Goodner.
Lee grew up in Dodge City, Kansas, and graduated high school in 1950 in Fortuna, California. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and served eight years in active duty and reserve.
On April 30, 1955 he was united in marriage to Adelle McPherson, adopting her four children, and to this union two more children were born.
Lee worked for IBM for 30 years as a system analyst in Texas, New York and California until retiring and moving to Cabool in 1990. He was a rock hound and collected rocks from all across the country. He amazed many people when he brought rocks to Missouri! He loved to sing; he and Adelle met while singing in the church choir. He sang in many church and community choirs throughout his life, and his children and grandchildren have many fond memories of his deep bass voice.
Lee became a Christian when he was 11 years old and he had attended Cabool Christian Church since moving to Cabool. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and soul.
Lee is survived by his wife, Adelle of the home. They had 53 years, eight months and 14 days of happiness together. Also surviving are five children, Blaine Goodner of Big Bend, California, Audrey Smith of Cabool, Judy Chol of San Jose, California, Sylvia Bachelor of Cabool, and Alicia Ramos of Somerset, California; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one aunt, Irene Bettis of Rio Dell, California. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2008, at Cabool Christian Church under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials to Cabool Christian Church.
