Roger Lee Boykin

Roger Lee Boykin, son of Don and Zelpha (Wilson) Boykin, was born November 27, 1960 in Cabool, Missouri, and departed this life August 29, 2014 at his home near Mountain Grove, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 53 years of age.

As a young man, Roger loved the outdoors, especially when hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing in many sports. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Don Boykin, and a brother, Mike Boykin.

Survivors include his mother, Zelpha Boykin of the home; one daughter, Stephanie Bain and husband Justin of Mountain Grove; two sisters, Lavonda Eaton and husband Glen of Mountain Grove and Brenda Stoops and husband Chris of Houston, Missouri; one brother, Buck Boykin of the home; four grandchildren, Taylor Reed, Dylan Reed, Reileigh Bain, and Jayden Bain; nieces and nephews, Alisa Freeman, Aaron Smith, Courtney Boykin, Jamie Green, Nick Eaton, and Garrett Eaton; and one great-nephew, Brandon Freeman.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014, in Cross-roads of Faith Church located north of Mountain Grove near the junction of Highway 95 and Highway 38. Rev. Junior Hutsell and Rev. Smiley Martin spoke. Special songs were provided by Tonya Martin and Brenda Tate. Serving as casket bearers were Steve Souder, Randy Hicks, Rusty Owens, Lamont Thurston, Curtis Dowden, Carl Martin, and Brian Kutz. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery of Mountain Grove under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
