Larry Wayne Shelley

Larry Wayne Shelley, 64, of Cabool, Missouri, son of Lee and Mary Shelley, left this earth to go home to his eternal reward, to be with his Lord and Savior in heaven on September 11, 2014.

He was born on January 29, 1950 in Cabool. He left doing one of the things in life he loved most, driving those big diesel trucks; the others included spending time with family and friends, going to church and telling others about Jesus.

Larry grew up in Cabool where he attended and graduated from high school. After graduation, Larry enlisted in the United States Marines but quickly changed his mind after meeting the love of his life, Beverly Sullens. The two of them began dating and realized this was something special. During this time, Larry was drafted and entered the United States Army. The two of them didn’t let this stop their love for each other and they were married on February 21, 1969.

Larry attended and was a member of Mt. Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church with his wife. It was where he was saved, baptized and received the call to preach and preached his first sermon on August 19, 1991. He had a tremendous love for the Lord and he would proudly tell anyone about Jesus. He touched many lives with his kindness and gentle heart. Larry also enjoyed mowing his yard and watching football, baseball and shooting pool.

Larry was preceded in death by his brother, David Shelley, and a sister, Connie Shelley Young.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly of the home; two sons, Wayne Shelley and wife Mandy of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and Michael Shelley and fiancée Rhonda Ramsey of Rogersville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Austin Shelley and Madison Shelley of Rogersville and Morgan Shelley, Brody Shelley, Shannon Watters, Sean Watters and Lindsey Watters of Mtn. Grove; his parents, Lee and Mary Shelley of Cabool; four sisters, Linda Baker of Huggins, Missouri, Rita Priece of Cabool, Kathy Manning of Mtn. Grove, and Debbie Schiewetz of Mtn. Home, Arkansas.

Larry touched the lives of many people through his life and ministry. He will be dearly missed by family, friends and those who knew him.
