He was born September 12, 1937 in Bunker, Missouri, to William Edward and Virgie L. (Carver) Jones.
He was raised in Cabool, Missouri, and graduated from Cabool High School with the class of 1955.
He was married to Katherine Mickelson Jones for 33 years. They had two children, Kirk and Mollie.
Morris enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968. He graduated at Ft. Benning, Georgia, from the Officer Intelligence Program. He made his career serving his country, retiring from the military in 1969.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bob and Bill Jones.
He is survived by his children, Kirk Jones and wife Hong and Mollie McAdams and husband Kevin from Portland, Oregon; two granddaughters, Margaret and Elizabeth McAdams; a brother, Mike Jones of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and a sister, Betty Hutchison of Gillette, Wyoming.
Morris loved golfing, fishing, reading and family. He was known to be quite the jokester; he enjoyed living life to the fullest and having a good time. He loved coming back home to Cabool to visit with his lifelong friends, Ed and Peg Aldridge, every year. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial services were held Thursday October 9, 2014, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Cabool, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Paul Wightman officiating. Mr. Jones was cremated under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
