Mr. Groom, son of Orion and Ethel (Macinturf) Groom, was born on August 22, 1926 in Clyde, Missouri. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving in the South Pacific Theater during World War II. He later graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. On November 7, 1980, he was united in marriage to Edna Alberta (Ottinger) Adams in Miami, Oklahoma. Mr. Groom loved the outdoors; he enjoyed farming, woodworking, gardening, and raised many different types of birds. His family loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Groom of Cassville; three sons, Gerald Groom of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Marion “Lee” Groom and wife Tama of Stanberry, Missouri, and Kenneth Groom and wife Beth of Cabool, Missouri; four daughters, Margaret Wolf and husband John of Platte City, Missouri, Gloria Jackson and husband Jack of Mansfield, Missouri, Jennifer Baxley and husband Joe Bob of Cassville, and Rebecca Groom of Cassville; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one sister in-law, Melva Groom of Corpus Christi, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Groom, and his sister, Margaret Reece.

Memorial services with full military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at White Funeral Home and Crematory.
