Wanda Jean Gunter

Wanda Jean Gunter, 69, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, the daughter of the late George and Dessie Marie (Tate) Hicks, was born on June 5, 1945 in Drury, Missouri. She departed this life on December 30, 2014 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 69 years, six months and 25 days of age.

She grew up in Drury and attended school at Dora. She was married for a brief time to Carl Edward Gunter, and four boys were born during this union. Wanda enjoyed being around her family and spending time with her friends. Wanda was outgoing and loved going to auctions. She also enjoyed watching wrestling and westerns and she really enjoyed embroidering.

Wanda was a loving mother and grandmother and friend. She will truly be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Gunter and Jesse Gunter; a daughter-in-law, Penny Gunter; and an infant son.

She is survived by two sons, Leroy Gunter and Matt Gunter and wife Angel, all of Mtn. Grove; a sister, Francis Smith and husband Junior of Mtn. Grove; one brother, George Jr. Hicks and wife Marie of Hartville, Missouri; three granddaughters, Kristie Gunter, Allie Gunter and Kerrigan Gunter, all of Mtn. Grove; four grandsons, Michael Hicks of Ava, Missouri, Jesse Gunter of Mtn. Grove, Lonnie McKibben of Beaver Creek, Ohio, and Alex Gunter of Mtn. Grove; six great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; a host of nieces and one nephew; and other family members and friends that will miss her dearly.

Graveside services were Monday, January 5, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. at Pleasant Home Cemetery near Drury with Robert Grisham officiating. Pallbearers were Calvin Grisham, Melvin Grisham, Sam Parsons, Jesse Gunter, Jerome Massey and Rodney Smith. Interment was in Pleasant Home Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, Missouri.
