Marilyn “Jane” Anderson

Marilyn “Jane” Anderson of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2015 at the age of 87. Burial will be at a later date alongside her husband at Springfield National Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.

Jane was born September 11, 1927 to Iva Belle (Smith) and Andrew “Jack” Eakins. She married Grayston J. “Andy” Anderson on October 2, 1946. Jane worked as a doctor’s assistant for over 50 years, raising their children in Springfield and in Cabool, Missouri. She and Andy moved to Arkansas upon his retirement but Jane wasn’t ready to retire so worked another 20 years for local doctors Max Chaney and Patricia Williams before her final retirement at age 80.

Jane always made time to enjoy her grand and great-grandchildren for the past 40-plus years. She worshiped with her church family at the Presbyterian Church of Bull Shoals where the ladies loved her and cheered her these last several years.

She was known as Janie to her devoted sisters and cherished the times they gathered to sing together in four-part harmony, entertaining the entire family. In addition to her love of music, reading and cooking were among her favorite pastimes.

Grandma Jane will be remembered by her children, her sister, and friends as the most loving, most gentle, and most positive influence in their lives.

Jane is survived by her daughters, Vicki Monte and Amy Johnson, both of Bull Shoals; one sister, Miriam “Bootsie” Rachels and niece, Gail Sevier Weakley (Johnny) and children of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren Victoria Monte Disalvo, Stephen Monte and Abby Johnson; and great-grandchildren Jake and Mia Disalvo and Sophia and Lola Monte.

Preceding her in passing were her parents, husband, two sisters, and son-in-law Steve Monte.
