He was born on June 28, 1921 in Troy, New York, the son of Waldo and Alta (Bornt) Brust.
David was united in marriage to Hilda Freemantle on April 8, 1944, and to this union 10 children were born. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Marines. He then worked for several years for the New York Department of Transportation before moving to Cabool in 1986. He enjoyed the outdoors, helping others and working on lawn mowers.
David was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hilda, on March 31, 2014; a son, David D. Brust; and seven siblings.
He is survived by nine children, Carol Denue, Nancy Mason, Susan Navarra, Sharon Smith, Betty Hall, Warren Brust, Laurie Marriner, Paul Brust and Ellen Smith; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and step grandchildren; one brother and two sisters; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Graveside memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015, at Cabool Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
