Ila grew up in the Wauneta area and graduated from Wauneta High School. She married Claude McMinn, Sr. on December 30, 1945. To this union six children were born: Carol McMinn, James McMinn, Patricia McMinn, Josephine Holzberlein, Elizabeth McMinn and Claude McMinn, Jr. Their family grew to include eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Ila and Claude worked a farm/ranch in Dundy County, Nebraska, and raised their children there. Ila entered distribution sales with Rawleigh Products, for which she received national recognition and numerous awards.
In 1969, Ila and Claude moved to Cabool, Missouri, where they farmed until 2013. For over 15 years she spent her summers leading tours at the Laura Ingalls Wilder home in Mansfield, Missouri, a job she enjoyed very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude, Sr.; two daughters, Elizabeth and Patricia; and a great-granddaughter, Jaedyn.
Ila’s life focus was her family; her anchor and hope was her faith. Her life personified selflessness, commitment and faith. She totally sacrificed herself to honor her commitment to marriage, family and neighbors, always putting everyone else before herself. She honored her Savior by her ability to forgive. Ila was a unique and special person as witnessed by every person who knew her.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, in Cabool First Christian Church. Interment will be in Hamlet Cemetery of Hamlet, Nebraska.
