James W. “Jim” Deverell

James W. “Jim” Deverell, 73, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015, at his home.

He was born on June 10, 1942 in Christ Church, New Zealand, the son of the late Norman W. and Mary K. (Worthington) Deverell.

Jim was a longtime business owner in the community. He purchased the Polly’s Café on the square in Mtn. Grove in 1987 and operated in that location until 2000. Jim and Deane then opened Dee’s and operated in that location until July 2014. Both locations were a common gathering spot for many locals and were dearly missed when they closed.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Deane of the home; a stepdaughter, Shari Andrus and children Codey, Shaylinn and Ayedin; a stepson, Kevin Sartor and wife Stacey and children; Brittani Roberts and family and Cory Tate; as well as many friends that knew and loved him.

Visitation was held on Monday, August 3, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. It was Jim’s wish to be cremated following the visitation.
