She was born on March 13, 1937 in rural Pulaski County, Missouri, the daughter of Harry H. Adkison and Sylvia (Vaughn) Adkison. The farm on which she and her siblings were born was purchased in 1941 by Fort Leonard Wood. The family relocated at this time and purchased a farm south of Elk Creek, Missouri, where she was raised.
Wanda attended the one-room Victor School through her elementary years and completed her education at Cabool High School where she met the love of her life, Paul Knaak, and they were united in marriage in 1954. She went to work at Brown Shoe Company where she worked until the factory closed.
After retirement, Wanda and Paul enjoyed camping across the United States.
Wanda gave her life to the Lord when she was a young girl and was a lifetime member of Cabool First Free Will Baptist Church in Cabool where she also played the piano for many years.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Sylvia Adkison; an infant brother, Warren; and a sister, Gloria.
She is survived by her husband, Paul of Cabool; two sons, Steve Knaak and wife Sherry of Ozark, Missouri, and Marty Knaak of Cabool; three grandchildren, Cody Knaak of Nixa and Stephanie Maige and Stacey Fawbush, both of Ozark; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry, Jr. and wife Lallia of Union, Missouri, and Bob and wife Mable of Mtn. Grove, Missouri. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Memorial services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2015, at the funeral chapel with Rick Batten officiating. Inurnment will be in Cabool Cemetery at a later date.
