He was born on September 23, 1931 in Franklin County, Arkansas, the son of William and Minnie (Knuckles) Johnson.
Junior enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served until receiving his honorable discharge.
On May 15, 1958 he was united in marriage to Lois June Brown, and to this union four children were born, Linda, Douglas, Daniel and Lori.
Junior spent the majority of his working years as a truck driver until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as long as his health permitted, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karen; two brothers; four sisters; and a grandson, Jason Castle.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of the home; four children, Linda Verjan of St. Louis, Missouri, Douglas Johnson and wife Roxanne of Gulf Port, Mississippi, Daniel Johnson, Sr., of St. Louis, and Lori Johnson of St. Louis; eight grandchildren, David, Tony, Danielle, Danny Jr., Tyler, Keegan, Amanda and Jacob; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Claudie Johnson of Ozark, Arkansas; two sisters, Ouita Smith and Joyce Gould of St. Louis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Graveside services were at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Lone Star Cemetery with Roger Flint officiating. Interment was in Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, Missouri.
