He was born on August 3, 1931 at Edmore, Michigan, the son of William and Alma (Martin) Hayes. Roy spent most of his younger years around the Mt. Clemons and Flint, Michigan area, later moving to Mokena, Illinois, Orange County, California, and finally to Cabool, where he stayed.
Roy was a roofer by trade, starting at the age of 15 and continuing until he was 75 and his health wouldn’t permit it anymore. He loved hunting, fishing and old cars and was a member of Southern Cruisers Car Club. Roy was a member of Cabool General Baptist Church where he enjoyed attending as long as his health permitted.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; a brother; and a son, Roy Louis Hayes.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda of the home; daughters, Helen Hicks of Camdenton, Missouri, and Sandy Pervinich of Lebanon, Missouri; sons, John Pervinich and wife Shelly of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Joel Pervinich and wife Vicky of Plainfield, Illinois; granddaughters, Marissa, Roxanne, Sophia, Emily and Francis Ann Marie; grandsons, Brady, Ben, Jack, Kyle, Chris and John; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Wilda Kidwell of Cabool and Maria Hayes of California; brother-in-law, Lonnie Combs and wife Bonnie of Indiana; several nieces, nephews, many more relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the funeral chapel with Zach Pridemore and Roger Flint officiating. Pallbearers were Andy Knapp, Mark Evans, Andrew Cardin, Chip Williams, Michael Davis and Billy Mason. Interment was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
