LeRoy was a trusted friend and caring mentor to his children, grandchildren, and many professional colleagues. An unassuming person, he taught through example and although few can recall LeRoy providing direct advice about what to do or how to solve a problem, he was called upon time and time again to help. And help he did in his quiet and supportive fashion.
LeRoy’s career spanned 43 years of dedicated and distinguished service to his country, beginning in 1961 with a tour as a lieutenant junior grade in the United States Navy and concluding with seven years in the Senior Executive Service. His entire career was dedicated to supporting systems that were a primary deterrent to war.
He was married to the former Betty Montgomery of Cabool, Missouri. After raising a family in Fort Washington, Maryland, LeRoy and Betty retired in Colorado.
He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Betty; daughter Kelly Romeo and husband Rich of Las Vegas, Nevada; and son Jeffrey and wife Marion (Yezserski), along with granddaughters Alei and Amanda, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
A celebration of life was held in Loveland, Colorado, on Saturday, December 12, 2015, with many tears and much laughter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in LeRoy’s name be made to Larimer County Food Bank. Go to www.allnutt.com to sign the guestbook and send condolences.
