William Wallace Roberts

William Wallace “Uncle Bill” Roberts, 94, of Cabool, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2016, surrounded by his family.

He was born to Martin Luther and Annie Ola (Stanley) Roberts on November 2, 1921 in Barnes, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Nadine Roberts; sister, Fairbia Turner; and grandson, Wally Roberts.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Debbie Mitcham and husband George of Cabool and Judy Rizer and husband Bill of Omaha, Nebraska; his sons, William Roberts and wife Gayle of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Michael Roberts and wife Kathy of Woodville, Texas; his brother, Vernon Roberts and wife Jody of New Mexico; his sisters, Willie Doan, Glenn Heil, Eva Witcher and Mary Flowers, all of Texas; twenty grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren, in addition to other family members and many close friends.

Bill grew up in Texas and began working at a young age. He was adept at many things and a master carpenter by trade. He married his childhood sweetheart, Nadine Christine Riley, in June of 1941. Bill served in the Army during World War II, entering June 29, 1944, and was honorably discharged March 13, 1946.

He loved making things and could build most anything from fiddles to furniture. Bill loved people and his church. He will be missed.

Memorials may be made to Providence Cemetery.

Services were held Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Providence Freewill Baptist Church with Dennis Adkison and Ben Walker officiating. Burial was in Providence Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Benny Scheets, Brad Tate, Barry Tate, Sky Crawford, Tomi Crawford and Jett Crawford.
