Garold Allen Welch

Garold Allen Welch, son of the late Robert Lee and Alta Mae (Rice) Welch, was born on April 14, 1942 in Springfield, Missouri, and departed this life on February 18, 2016 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, at 73 years of age.

He grew up in Plato, Missouri, and graduated from Houston High School, Houston, Missouri, in 1961. He graduated from Missouri University in Columbia, Missouri, in 1965.

He married Patsy Amick on September 1, 1963 in Cabool, Missouri. Two children were born to this union: Gary and Loria.

Garold enjoyed hunting, especially turkey and deer hunting, fishing, and sucker grabbing, and just spending time outdoors. He had gone on several hunting and fishing trips to Colorado, South Dakota, and Canada. He also greatly enjoyed going to ballgames with his grandchildren.

He retired in 2003 after working for 38 years for the USDA as a Rural Economic Community Development District director. After retirement, Garold became a full-time beef farmer. He was a dedicated John Deere equipment man.

Garold was a member of the Methodist Church of Hartville, Missouri. He was also a Mason and a member of the Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy of their home in Mountain Grove, Missouri; his son: Gary Don Welch of Mountain Grove; his daughter, Loria Ann Carriger and husband Larry of Springfield; four grandchildren, Derek Welch, Stetson Welch, Whitley Welch, and Anthony Carriger and wife Maureen; three great-grandchildren, Brekyn, Lydia, and Dayne; and many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 22, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Dedmon officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
