David was born and raised in Long Beach, California. He later moved to the high desert in Lucerne Valley, California, where he worked as a maintenance mechanic for Kiser Cement, retiring in 1984. In 2003, David moved to Cabool, Missouri. He was a member of Southern Cruisers Car Club. David loved to show off his 1965 Ford Mustang, and accumulated over one hundred trophies while showing his car.
Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn “Susie” Abney; two brothers; and one sister.
He is survived by one daughter, Annette McCarty and husband James of Cabool, Missouri; three grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services were held on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Rock Springs Cemetery. Burial was in Rock Springs Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
