She was born on December 12, 1927 in Franklin County, Indiana. Phyllis moved to Cabool at the age of two to be raised by Rev. A.W. and Josie Adkins. She attended all twelve years of school at Cabool, graduating with the Class of 1945.
In 1946, she was united in marriage to Charles James Roberts. To this union, seven children were born.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Hazel Hartsock; foster parents, Rev. A.W. and Josie Adkins; her husband, Charles; two sons-in-law; a grandson-in-law; five siblings and seven foster siblings.
She is survived by her children, Donna Lambdin of Rogersville, Missouri, Beverly Michelsen of Lewisville, Texas, Charles Gene Roberts of Stigler, Oklahoma, Ann Zimmerman of West Plains, Missouri, Normalea Roberts of Texas, Denise Clark of Rolla, Missouri and David James Roberts of Sugar Grove, Illinois; ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and another great-great-grandson in two weeks; sister, Margaret Keltner; an aunt, Carol Clary Pippen, as well as many friends and relatives who will miss her dearly.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2016, at the funeral chapel with Sandy Bosserman and Roland Johnson officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Cabool Cemetery.
