She was born in Detroit, Michigan, and had five siblings.
She joined the U.S. Air Force where she met and married Dan Kirkman of Cabool, Missouri, where she made her life and raised four daughters and a son.
She was in Tupperware sales, owned and operated Gerry’s Variety Store, a used book store, a home daycare, and was a Girl Scout leader and taught ceramics.
She was involved in V.F.W. Auxiliary and was a Sunday school teacher at the Christian Church.
She relocated in 1982 and after 20 years as manager of Dollar General retired to Springdale, Arkansas. Her retirement years were filled with grandchildren activities, travel, great-grandchildren, church work, the Disabled American Veterans, and time spent with close friends.
The pride and joy of her life included ten grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
She is survived by her children: Cindi and Wallace Kirkwood of Springdale, Arkansas, and their son; Debbie and Dale Slagle of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, their two sons and two granddaughters; Patty and Garrett Coleman of Springdale, Arkansas, their daughter and granddaughter; Mike and Raetta Kirkman of Bonaire, Georgia, their three sons and a daughter; and Pam Malone of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and her two sons. Gerry is also survived by her ex-husband, Dan Kirkman.
She was preceded in death by one grandson.
