Joyce Marie Neher

Joyce Marie Neher was born on June 26, 1953 at Sargent, Missouri, the third of four children born to Dennis Ezra Means and Dorotha Beatrice (Hunter) Means. She passed from this life on June 21, 2016 in Springfield, Missouri, making her age 62 years, 11 months and 25 days.

She attended school at Mtn. Grove, Missouri, through the ninth grade. She received her GED in 1994, the same year her daughter, Kris, graduated from Cabool High School.
Joyce was united in marriage to Darrell Neher at Greenwood Church of the Brethren on June 14, 1969. They were blessed with two daughters, Thresa and Kris. Greenwood was the church where she was baptized. She also attended Almost Home Ministries in Mtn. Grove with her mother, Dorotha.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Means; sister, Vivian Maxvill and husband Louie; brother, Lester Means; and sister-in-law, Iris Neher.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell of their home at Cabool, Missouri; her mother, Dorotha Means of Cabool; sister, Linda Stofer and husband Bobby of Mtn. Grove; daughter, Thresa Sullivan and fiancé Robbie Floyd of Solo, Missouri; daughter, Kris Neher of Cabool; four grandchildren, Sasha Cornelius and husband Josh, Darren Kelm, Tres Sullivan and Jordan Sullivan; two great-grandchildren, James Cornelius and Aria Cornelius; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Among her many friends is her best friend for 40+ years, Pat Estep and husband Bill (who preceded her in death).

Joyce and Darrell had owned and operated Cabool Bowl since 1997. Many friends were made at the bowling alley who became like family. Joyce was truly loved and will be missed.

She always had a positive attitude through her many surgeries and long rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. She fought a valiant battle against her cancer with Darrell, Thresa, Kris and friend Pat always by her side. She loved to participate with family members in the local Relay For Life and the STRIDE in Springfield, which raised money for a cancer cure and also remembered those who had already lost their battle with cancer.

Joyce loved to bowl, be with her family, play the lottery and enjoy time with her friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, in the funeral chapel with Jane (Neher) Davis officiating.
