Laird Paul Berkeley Ashton

Laird Paul Berkeley Ashton, 70, of Houston, Missouri, passed away September 1, 2016 at Phelps County Regional Hospital, Rolla, Missouri.

Paul was born June 16, 1946 to Paul Laird and Yvonne (Toolen) Ashton in Santa Barbara, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Paul married Alaine Mooney in July of 1996.

He is survived by his wife Alaine of the home in Houston; two sons, Keith Ashton and wife Cathy Tutor of Simmons, Missouri, and Kevin Mooney and wife Tiffany of Cabool, Missouri; six grandsons, Patrick Ashton, Tyler Parsons, Trenton Parsons, Liam Mooney, Ashton Mooney and Randall Tutor; two granddaughters, Rachael Mister and Courtney Burnworth; and his sister, Yvonne P. Ashton of Santa Barbara, California.

Paul served in the United States Navy from March 8, 1967 to March 11, 1970. He was honorably discharged as a SR in San Francisco, California.

He was a business real estate manager in California for many years. After he retired, he and Alaine moved to Missouri in 1999. He loved tinkering on hot rods, watching Cardinals baseball and singing doo wop with his wife.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorials may be made to Texas County Hospice of Care.

Services were held Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Evans Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors was in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri. Pallbearers were Kevin Mooney, Keith Ashton, Randall Turner, John Phillips, Matt McGiboney and Marshall Bernard. Honorary pallbearer was Patrick Ashton.
