Kathy Lucille (Assink) Dicharry

Kathy Lucille (Assink) Dicharry, 62, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.

She was born on May 12, 1954 in Wichita Falls, Texas, the daughter of Noel and Lucille Assink.

After graduating from Capiah Lincoln Junior College, where her father also later retired as a professor, Kathy began many adventures and travels, including being a disc jockey from Bangkok, Thailand for the troops fighting in Vietnam. Afterward, Kathy attended Louisiana Tech in Monroe, Louisiana. While there she was baptized into Christ.

While attending the Whites Ferry Road Church of Christ in West Monroe, Louisiana, she met Lawrence, a preaching student, who was also a four-year U.S. Navy veteran. The Lord blessed this union with three children, Josiah, Paul and Miriam, and they later took in, as permanent guardians, a niece from birth, Loretta (Lori), whom both Kathy and Lawrence loved as their own.

Kathy earned a master’s degree in teaching high school science. She concluded her acts of public service as a volunteer grandmother in a program at Cabool Elementary School where she won the hearts of many children, fellow volunteers and teaching staff alike.

Kathy is survived by her husband and three children; and from the Dicharry side, her mother-in-law, Gloria; brothers-in-law, John and Frank; sisters-in-law, Rebecca and Medic; along with four nephews and two nieces; and from the Assink side, her three brothers, Terence (Sandy) Assink, Michael Assink, and Randall (Linda) Assink; sister, Rebecca (Eric) Hennington; seven nephews, one niece and several grand-nieces and -nephews.
