Mary Louise Woods

Mary Louise Woods, 63, passed into Heaven February 22, 2017 in Flippin, Arkansas, surrounded by her family.

She was born the fifth child of Uhlan and Lily (Sullivan) Cook on October 27, 1953 in Peoria, Illinois. She was a graduate of Cabool High School Class of 1971.

Mary was united in marriage to Carol Woods on July 17, 1971 at Oak Grove Baptist Church near Simmons, Missouri, and to this union two children were born: Uhlan Esel “Buddy” on July 6, 1973 and Melissa Carol on September 2, 1975.

Most of her adult life was spent in Cotter, Arkansas, area. She was a stay-at-home mom when her children were small, then she worked as a convenience store manager and a substitute teacher in the Cotter School System. She was a great cook and loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved to talk and was very free with her opinions.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Uhlan; a sister, Alice; a brother, John; a grandson; and her in-laws, Esel and Evelena Woods.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of 46 years, Carol; her son, Buddy Woods and wife Christina of Gassville, Arkansas; her daughter, Melissa Lemons and husband Braden of Mountain Home, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; her mother, Lily Cook of Cabool, Missouri; sisters, Linda Cantrell and Kathy Cook of Mountain Grove, Missouri; brothers, James Cook and wife Sena of Waynesville, Missouri, and Richard Cook and wife Karen of Jefferson City, Missouri; as well as a host of family and friends.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017, at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Cabool with John Emery officiating. Interment was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
