She was born September 19, 1918 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the daughter of Thomas Jackson Bryson and Mary Albert Hill Bryson. She was raised in her beloved New Orleans.
On June 30, 1943 she married J. Ray Trotter in Tampa, Florida. He preceded her in death August 16, 1996.
Mrs. Trotter was a member of Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia and she was a 40-year member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She moved from Cape Girardeau in 2002 to be near her children.
Survivors include her children, Sharon (Bob) Bailey of Columbia, Missouri, Sandra (Chuck) Sharamitaro of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, and William Ray Trotter (Sonie) of Cabool, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
A private service was held at Memorial Park Mausoleum, Cape Girardeau. There will be a celebration of her life in Columbia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Columbia, where “Miss Dorothy” donated dozens of her hand-stitched baby quilts, or to Centenary Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
