Geneva White Carman

Geneva (White) Carman was born on September 29, 1924 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Edmond Lewis and Vesta Caroline (Atchley) White Ellis. She departed this life at her home in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, on September 30, 2017 at the age of 93 years and one day.

Geneva was united in marriage to Tony Lester Carman on June 11, 1940 and to this union five children were born, Margie, Ray, Patti, Tammy and Shawanna.

She was saved at an early age and loved the Lord. She attended Calvary Temple Church as long as her health permitted. She loved quilting, canning, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.

Geneva was an excellent teacher and disciplinarian to her children. Her home was always open to others, being second mom to many of her children’s friends and a special daughter, Edith Wayland.

Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; her son, Ray; four brothers, Oscar (infant), Lyle, Bill and Vernon; her parents; and her stepfather, Bill Ellis.

She is survived by her four daughters, Margie Knotts and husband Bob of Mtn. Grove, Patti Coble and husband Joe of Mtn. Grove, Tammy Palmer and husband Ron of Springfield, Missouri, and Shawanna Phillips and husband Bobby of Evansville, Indiana; one brother, Loy Ellis and wife Arlene of Graff, Missouri; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Carman of Cabool, Missouri; sister-in-law, Leila White of Seattle, Washington; her grandchildren, Rob Knotts, Tonya Martin, Shirlene Denman, Kristi Wilson, MaDonna Nelson, Jim Carman, Vernon Carman, Sonja (Carman) Cornman, Mandy Johnson, Chad Coble, Chase Hale, Tye Hale, Shawnee Hale, Andrew Phillips, Taylar Granger and Sam Phillips; 24 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at the funeral chapel with Bill Morris officiating. Pallbearers were Rob Knotts, Jim Carman, Chad Coble, Chase Hale, Tye Hale and Jeff Nelson. Interment was in Jarrett Cemetery near Cabool, under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at
