She was born on May 12, 1940 in Houma, Louisiana, the daughter of Homer Stuart and Lucille and Stanley “Thumb” Horak.
Dee worked a variety of jobs through the years: Brown Shoe factory, hairdresser and after completing school she became a licensed practical nurse. She enjoyed planting flowers and making a garden, anything to be outside. She also loved to participate in the Senior Olympics.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Homer Stuart; a son, Stanley; a granddaughter, Kristi; a grandson, Robbie; and one great-grandson, David.
She is survived by two sons, Rodger Hunter and wife Brenda and Rex Hunter and wife Crystal; seven grandchildren, Brad Hunter and wife Heather, John Shaffer and wife Tena, Jason Shaffer and wife Dawn, Kelsi Hunter, Racheal Hunter and her significant other Morgan, Lowgun Creech, and Destiny Creech, all of Willow Springs; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the funeral chapel. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the funeral chapel with David Lovan officiating. Pallbearers were John Shaffer, Jason Shaffer, Brad Hunter, Lowgun Creech, Morgan Williams and Tyler Barnett.
