Dorothy L. Tinnin Norris, 82, of Jackson, Missouri, died Friday, December 28, 2018, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
She was born April 7, 1936, in Cape Girardeau to John Frank and Versie Lorance Tinnin. She and the Rev. James E. Norris were married October 3, 1954, at Marquand, Missouri.
She was a graduate of Marquand High School.
She helped her husband with church activities and became his private secretary. She was an administrative assistant at churches in Houston, Caruthersville and Troy, Missouri. The Norris family resided in Cabool, Missouri, during the years her husband was the minister at Cabool United Methodist Church.
She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. James E. Norris of Jackson; a son, James E. (Darlene) Norris, Jr. of Lampe, Missouri; a daughter, Dena (Randall) Babb of Jackson; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Horrell, James E. (Amanda) Norris III, Christopher (Andrea) Norris and John Sorrells; and five great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2018, at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Charles Buck and the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Burial was at Whitener Cemetery in Marquand.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society.
