Willadean Swofford, 87, of Cabool, Missouri, departed this life on January 28, 2019 at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri.
She was born on August 6, 1931 in Shell Knob, Missouri, the daughter of Millard and Maude (James) Whisman. She was baptized at a young age at the Church of Christ in Shell Knob.
Willadean attended grade school at Shell Knob and graduated from Cassville High School in 1950. It was there that she met and married Darrel Amos Swofford on July 25, 1950 and to this union three children were born, Darrel Michael, Brenda Joyce and Mark G. During the first years of their marriage they lived in Oregon, California and then in Kansas City before moving to Mtn. Grove, Missouri, in 1968 to start a dairy farm. She worked at many jobs through the years, but her favorite was the 18 years she worked at Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool.
Willadean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrel; sisters, Wanda Bradshaw of Kansas City, Missouri, and Vera May Simonin of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and brothers, Hewlett of California, Kenneth of Joplin, Missouri, Carl of Kansas City and M.F. Whisman, Jr. of Shell Knob.
She is survived by her three children, Darrel Michael Swofford of Mtn. Grove, Brenda Joyce Hurst of Mtn. Grove and Mark G. Swofford of Cabool; one sister, Belva Fay Pozek of Arkansas; one brother, Charles Robert of Shell Knob; six grandkids, Steven, Bobby, Tammek, Tammy, Laura and Cassie; and seven great-grandkids. She dearly loved all of her grandkids and great-grandkids. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019, at the funeral chapel with Dan Harvey officiating. Pallbearers were Hervel Graham, Brian VanFosson, Ben Sellars and Ivan Arthur.
