Stanley Hanna, 86, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away on February 27, 2019, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri, following a recent decline in health.
He was born in Waynoka, Oklahoma, on July 23, 1932, son of the late Doil and Geneva (Gilstrap) Hanna.
Stanley grew up in Canadian, Texas, with his parents and siblings and joined the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge from the military after his father suffered a heart attack and he needed to help his parents with their family farm near Houston, Missouri.
That was where he met Estella Vandivort, the cute red-headed girl next door. They married and enjoyed 63 loving years together before her death in 2016. After living in the St. Louis, Missouri, and El Paso, Texas, areas, Stanley and Estella settled in Cabool, Missouri, during the 1960s. They adopted a son, Michael, in 1967.
Stanley and his brother, Jack, owned and operated a commercial and residential plumbing company for a number of years before he completed his work career at the Dairy Farmers of America facility in Cabool. He served on the Cabool City Council and was an active member in his church until his death.
Stanley is survived by his son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Pamela; two sisters, Naomi Rountree of Littlefield, Texas, and Martha Sparling of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews and many close friends.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in Cabool with the Rev. Terry Lippstreu officiating. Interment was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
