Brian Cody, 60, passed away in his home on March 11, 2019 in Salem, Missouri. He was surrounded by loving family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Shirley (Smith) Cody.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Cody; sister, Sharon Cody; two brothers, Brendan Cody, and Matthew Cody; niece, Amanda Smith; and nephews, Faolan, Aedan and Willem Cody.
He was born January 26, 1959, in Columbus, Georgia, to a military family and traveled the world when he was just a boy. As a grown man, he made a career for himself as an award-winning chef in some of the finest restaurants in St. Louis and Chicago, yet when he finally settled down with his wife in a cabin near their beloved Montauk State Park, he was happier than he’d ever been.
The highlight of Brian’s career was his work with the youth at Gentry Residential Treatment Center at Cabool, Missouri, for which he was recognized by the Missouri House of Representatives with a state resolution detailing his excellence in the workplace.
Outside of work, Brian loved trout fishing at Montauk and tending to his home garden.
Throughout his work and private life, Brian touched the lives of many and made them better for it. He will be missed but never forgotten.
The family respectfully suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Brian Cody Scholarship Fund, c/o Peoples Community Bank, 600 Main Street, Cabool, MO 65689. Online condolences may be expressed at www.evansfh.com.
