Shirley L. Johnson, 84, of Birch Tree, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019, after a long illness.
She was born on August 24, 1934 in Aurora, Missouri, the second child of Robert and Rose (Garbs) Holthaus, and was raised in St. Louis where she attended Catholic schools.
Before graduating high school, she met the “love of her life” and married James Johnson in 1953; together they became the parents of seven children, six of which survive, and raised their family in Howell and Shannon counties, Missouri.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; her son, Michael; a sister, Pauline; a brother, Robert, Jr.; as well as many other extended family members.
She is survived by her daughters, Jan (Mike) Harrison, Cathy (Darrin) Renshaw and Cindy Johnson; her sons, David Johnson, William Johnson and John (Vicki) Johnson; grandchildren, Jason (August), Amanda, Sherry (Craig), Dawnna, Michael II, Shawna, Justin (KayLee), Austin and Jordan; nine great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends she made throughout the years.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Cabool Cemetery with Rev. Terry Brown officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, Missouri. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
