Elvira Brill of Cabool competed last week in the 2019 USBC (United States Bowling Congress) Senior Championships held in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The USBC Senior Championships is a national event for bowlers who have qualified through their state’s senior tournament. This year’s event was held August 6-9.

Bowlers who qualified for the national level of the USBC Senior Championships bowled six games over two days, competing in the Mixed Division or Women’s Division against more than 400 bowlers for an estimated prize fund of $40,000.

The top six bowlers from each division/age group advanced to the Advancers Round and bowled three more games to determine a national champion in each division/age group.

Each state association is permitted to send a maximum of 12 men and women bowlers to the national event, one representative for each of the six age groups in each division: 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75+.

Brill competed in the Women’s 75+ division, finishing 20th among bowlers from the United States and Canada. She bowls regularly in a mixed league at Cabool Bowl.
