Cora Lee Skyles, 92, of Elk Creek, Missouri, was born on May 9, 1928 in Coffeyville, Kansas, the daughter of Harvey and Cleo (Pittman) Sanders. She passed away in the early morning of September 2, 2019 in Omaha, Nebraska, where she had been living with her son.
Cora Lee had lived most of her life in or around Cabool, Missouri, before her move to Omaha. She was always a kind woman; she cherished her family, loved living a simple, healthy and faithful life on her little plot of land. She was very proud of her place; it was always full of flowers, animals and all kinds of homemade charm. There were always great meals to be had and stacks of hand-stitched quilts she had made. She was a great cook and a talented seamstress, although most people could never get her to admit to being talented at anything because she was always a very humble and quiet person her entire life.
Cora Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Harvey Sanders; her husband, Arthur Skyles; her siblings, Ruth Clark, Ivan Sanders, James Pittman and three infant siblings; and two grandchildren, Jeffery Hall and Lynette Hall.
She is survived by her brother, Marion; both of her children, Linda Hall and Bennie Skyles; her grandchildren, Kirsten Meier, Dale Meier and Cathy Hall; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and of course, her beloved dog, Boots. She will always be remembered warmly and greatly missed.
Graveside services were held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2019, at Steely Chapel Cemetery in Elk Creek with George Sholtz officiating. Interment was under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
