Florene Claudette Morgan, 99½, of Cabool, Missouri,, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Kabul Nursing Home.
She was born on June 15, 1920 in Yellville, Arkansas, the daughter of Austin Ealon and Hulda Elizabeth (Honeycutt) Keeter.
Florene attended grade school in Shady Grove, Arkansas. After graduation from grade school she attended Salem High School until her junior year when she moved to Cabool and graduated with the Class of 1939. After graduation, she worked in the office of the physics teacher and the superintendent.
Florene met Earl Aldridge in 1939 and they were united in marriage in February of 1940. To this union three sons were born, Earl Ray, Eddie and Gary. She worked for Brauer Brothers and Brown Shoe Company for 27 years, retiring in April 1982 at the age of 62.
Florene gave her life to Jesus at the age of 11 during a revival at Shady Grove. She and her mother joined First Baptist Church and she was privileged to serve in several leadership positions through the years. She enjoyed sewing for the community and church. She transported many young people to church; she had more riders than a taxi service. Everyone she came in contact with she was quick to share her faith and concern for people who needed the Lord. She was responsible for untold numbers of young people to learn about Jesus.
In June of 1988, she married a longtime friend, Wayne Killion. He passed a year and ten months later. She was a widow for five years before she met Wayne Morgan and they were married on September 10, 1994; this union would last ten years before Wayne passed in 2004.
Florene was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Eddie J. Aldridge and Gary M. Aldridge, Sr.; her sisters, Stella Matlock, Rama DePriest and Lora Hudson; two brothers, Ervin Keeter and Garland Keeter.
